WICA (Wimbum Canada) has successfully secured funding from government and community partners to strengthen our programs, support our members, and build the capacity of our organization.

Supporting Black Canadian Communities

Funded by: Government of Canada
Project Period: 2021–2022

Through this program, WICA received funding to strengthen our operational capacity and support cultural programming. The project enabled the organization to acquire essential equipment such as laptops, office equipment, cultural instruments, event kitchenware, a sound system, and a projector. These resources continue to support community meetings, cultural activities, and youth programs.

Digital Optimization Project

Funded by: Tropicana Community Services
Project Period: 2022–2023

This project helped modernize WICA’s digital infrastructure and improve engagement among members across Canada. Activities included redesigning the organization’s website, implementing digital collaboration tools, providing access to online training platforms, and supporting youth-led initiatives such as social media content and a community podcast series.

WICA Canada Traditional Xylophone

Past funding has enabled WICA to purchase traditional drums, xylophone, and authentic cultural attire sourced directly from Cameroon. These items play a vital role in showcasing and preserving our rich cultural heritage during conventions, meetings, and community events. Through music, traditional dress, and performance, WICA continues to celebrate and promote our identity while strengthening cultural pride among members and the broader community.

As part of the SBCCI funding received through Tropicana Community Services, WICA (Wimbum Canada) implemented a capacity-building initiative to strengthen its ability to manage and maintain its organizational website.

The Wimbum Canada Youth Podcast Project was created to provide young people with an opportunity to develop digital media skills while sharing their ideas and perspectives on topics that matter to them.
